ATTITUDE & NEW SONGS

ATTITUDE AND NEW SONGS
Attitude speaks the heart of a person. When our heart is right with our Heavenly Daddy we find that no matter what situation we may be experiencing, good or bad, we can have joy unspeakable (See 1 Peter 1:8).
Joy may be unspeakable because there are just no words with which to adequately describe the magnitude of the amazing feeling a person has; or joy can be unspeakable because in the gravity of a horrific situation there is no way to explain how during such a difficult time a person can still have even a glimmer of joy in their heart. But our joy does not depend on the situations we are in; joy is dependent only on our relationship with our Daddy God. As children of God may we be “strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; 12) Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us [befitting] to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light” (Colossians 1:11-12).
Notice in verse 12 it says we are to also be giving thanks to Daddy God, always. We have much to be thankful for. Paul in Philippians 4:4 urges us to “rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.” ALWAYS REJOICE. The writers in the book of Psalms knew the truth of this!
In Psalms 34:1 we find the declaration: “I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.”
Again in Psalms 113:3 the writer proclaims: “From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD’s name is to be praised.”
And in Psalms 95:2 we read: “Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.”
Not only are we to continuously praise God in song but with NEW songs!! I found so many verses on singing to God a new song that it was overwhelmingly obvious that God wants us to sing new songs to Him!! Not to say that anything is wrong with singing songs that have been written over the ages, but we do need to keep proclaiming what God is doing not just yesterday but today and also the promises of what He will do tomorrow. Just like God’s mercies are new each and every morning, so should our songs be! (See Lamentations 3:22-23) Our songs are not only giving God honor but also making declaration of who He is unto both natural and spiritual realms alike. So amongst the many verses that speak of singing new songs, I narrowed my choices down to the following few.
In heaven new songs are sung.
Revelation 5:9 “And they (the four beasts and twenty four elders) sung a new song…”
Revelation 14:2-3 “And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps: 3) And they sung as it were a new song before the throne…”
And on earth, echoing the example given by heaven itself, new songs are sung.
Psalms 33:2-3 “Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings. 3) Sing unto him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise.”
Psalms 96:1, 3 “O sing unto the LORD a new song: sing unto the LORD all the earth. 3) Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people. ”
Psalms 98:1, 4-6 “O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvelous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory. 4) Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise. 5) Sing unto the LORD with the harp; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm. 6) With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the LORD, the King.”
Psalms 149:1, 3 “Praise ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints. 3) Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.”
Not only is it important to praise God with a joyful heart telling of what He has done, is doing, and will do for us but we are to serve Him with a joyful heart being content with whatever our situation may be because the here and now is fading and soon we will be home in heaven. Therefore, knowing that we are only here just passing through, the gravity of a bad situation should never be our focus. So, even in the midst of a difficult time we can still be joyful because our joy comes from the knowledge of our victory, even if we haven’t seen it yet, and also from the hope we have in Daddy God and our eternal salvation (See Psalms 35:9) which is why we do what we do, to share with the world the hope of salvation.
And we should be thankful for all the good, and even in the worst of circumstances there is always good, so we need to be thankful!
Psalms 100: 2, 4 “Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. 4) Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.”
When we come to Daddy God with our requests we are to make them with thanksgiving always. ALWAYS. In Philippians 4:6 it declares: “Be careful for nothing;” …which means not to worry… “but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”
Paul goes on to say later in the same chapter: 11) “Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. 12) I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13) I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me’ (Philippians 4:11-13).
And in attitude we are encouraged to always have the right perspective in our thoughts. Many battles are won in the mind simply because we have been either in the right mind set upon approach of a trial or situation; or when an unexpected and contrary situation has arisen we have chosen to focus on whatever good may be recognized in the moment or the good that we knew was coming because of the promises in God’s word. In Philippians 4: 7 we are promised that “the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus”… and then Paul goes on to say: “8) Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
And I leave you with these two verses:
Psalms 104: 34 “My meditation of him (Jesus) shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.”
Colossians 3: 16-17 “ Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17) And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”
PRAISE THE LORD!!
